Building SPECS: System Info — A Behind-the-Scenes Look

SPECS started as an internal tool. We wanted a single place to see a device's processor, memory, display resolution, battery state, and network interfaces without hunting through Settings menus. Once we had a working prototype, the question was: how do we make this feel premium? The answer came in three parts: a data layer that queries IOKit, CoreTelephony, and UIDevice; a SwiftUI interface built around readable cards with clear typography; and a Home Screen widget powered by WidgetKit so the most important stats are available at a glance. SPECS shipped in March 2026 and has been one of our most-downloaded apps to date.
